In this paint I focused primarily on the composite. I used the rule of thirds to position the main focal points (being the child and the imaginary friends). I also made sure to have element help guide the viewers eyes toward the tow focal points such as the clouds pointing at the creatures and shadows pointing towards the kid. the thing I'm not happy with is the muddiness of the foreground.
agreed... but it looks really safe and welcoming - and not scary or creepy (which is always a danger in a project like this when you've got childhood creatures etc). Very richly coloured and inviting.
ReplyDeleteNice painting Douy. I agreed about the foreground. I actually think the problem stems from the bottom of the play area being inline with the child'd neck and a similar in colour. It stops the child reading fully (they are muddled). Below the play area is a bit 'nondescript' too and very horizontal. If you have the play area on a layer (brown floor), turn it off...you'll see a clearer composition.
ReplyDeleteNote - Your previous pen/line drawings drawings are much clearer.
